Four Years Ago Today....
It seems almost ironic that today my husband and I will be traveling to Indiana to be celebrate the life of Richard Baker, my husband's brother. He passed away on Good Friday. Dick was told that he would have 2 months to live, the time was much shorter. The irony is that four years ago on April 8, my beautiful brother, Mark, left this earth, bound for a better place.
Although time helps to ease pain, rarely a day goes by where something will trigger a Mark memory. It always brings a smile to my face as they are usually such happy memories.
"Last to Leave Home" has become a wonderful way to honor my brother and a way to help others. I am so pleased to have many emails from strangers who tell me how much the book has helped......whether its a sibling of someone with a disability or a student who, after reading the book, has a new found respect for those with disabilities.
Thank you, Mark, for helping to make me a better person.
I love you.
