What a special weekend at Pope John Paul II in Hendersonville, TN. Founding father, Bill Puryear, was honored with an introduction by Hans Broekman, who was the 1st Headmaster and had flown from Liverpool, England (where he currently resides) to attend the event. Both were so eloquent and I loved visiting with them again.
While visiting I enjoyed speaking with a mother of a child with Down syndrome who shared a poignant story that touched me deeply. Her high school daughter attended the March for Life in Washington, DC, in January. While there she called her mother and said, "Mom, I just heard that 9 out of every 10 women who are told they are carrying a child with Down syndrome choose to abort that child. Mom, thanks for being the ONE." What a beautiful comment from a sibling of a child with Down syndrome and what a tribute to that mother.
