Kirby Speaks about Down Syndrome

St. Michael's Catholic School, Kirby Matocha, decided to compete in original oratory at the St Thomas High School Speech Tournament. Because of her interest in Down syndrome sparked by my book, Kirby's subject was Down syndrome. She wanted to inform others about this condition with the hope of fostering respect and understanding for those with special needs. Kirby is shown here practicing her oratory. Kirby also competed in prose. She read a chapter from my book. I was so proud of her efforts and enthusiasm! Although she made it into finals in another event, I was proud of the effort she took to prepare her speech for such a selfless purpose.
